So I ordered an mp3 player with a pair of in-ear headphones for extensive use when I'm doing chores around the home or doing some quick laps around the block outside.

I'm not really an advocate for pirated music, but I don't have the available funds to buy songs through itunes or what have you.

So I was wondering if there is a more legal-friendly, free alternative means of acquiring some high quality tunes?

Apologies to the audiophiles reading this and who are pinching their temples in disgust  :P

-snip-

There is no 100% legal way to pirate music.

You can also go for some free music, like I think Soundcloud or something offers.

Otherwise you can look into YouTube mp3 download stuff or something.. But I wont link.

could have bought cheap smartphone (new or used, big or small up to you) and a Pay As You Go sim and just stream through spotify for free. The bitrate for the free version will hardly use that much data to begin with.

Other than that, buying the real music is the only option.Or download from sites like Soundcloud or bandcamp if you are into that kind of music the offer.

there are literally thousands of up and coming artists that are releasing their work for free on Bandcamp... well free as in pay what you want pricing and I have thrown a few pesos at artists I liked

support new artists tell them their work matters and become fans of people before they blow up all over the internet

On top of this, the tracks you get there are often available in a wide range of audio formats. Perfect for people that want to collect lossless.
