OK, ok. ok, the title was just I joke, I always knew Macs could get crapware. But now my families computer and now I have been summoned to deal with it. They told me it started just today after they had downloaded something, so I restored it to early in the morning 2 days ago since no changes had been made that were important. I have this one down OK though, thank god. I myself don't usually deal with stuff like this, so I have no idea how to deal with it in any other way. Anything I should try in the future should it happen again?

I'll stick to mac, thanks.

How can you tell it's malware anyways?

Words on any page being highlighted and then advertisements, clicking on anything resulted in a pop up to a site that my computer is outdated and unsecure.

Oh I know Macs are annoying, had to deal with overheating iMac's and MacbookPro's when I was at school (they were full of dust).

What I do: I download a fan control program, then I run it at full burn ahead for a few minutes. CLEANS OUT A SHIT TON OF DUST. I do this every month-ish. The first time I did it, my temps went from around idling at 50 to 30. However, as you might guess, it is quite loud.

Yeah I find macs are great a lot of the time. But when they hit problems, they are a lot harder to troubleshoot since the MAC comuntiy is much smaller. My sisters Macbook Pro got stuck in a recurring Kernal Panic while stuck in a bag and sounded like a jet engine when she got back to her dorm. I figured out it was a software issue in 5 minutes when it took a tech shop. 1 hour. :P:) I IS AWESOME!!!

Sophos if you are worried about it happening again. But you really don't need it since there are only like <3 pieces of wild malware for OSX right now

Why do I get the feeling that's because they were the only successful bits of malware.....

Besides that, reaching 100 degrees celsius isn't uncommon with a macbook. (Luckely I've sold mine by now)

I didn't intend for this Topic to go here, but what do you guys think of the apple watch and new macbook? Since everyone in my town HAS to have the newest tech, I am wondering how on earth they will be able to regulate how kids use the apple watches (kids already have them BTW)

The Apple watch and the new macbook pro is slightly comparable to beats. Besides that the new macbook is extremely inconvenient with its single port, and Apple took "overpriced" to a whole new level with that macbook. The watch is still too expensive, but a nice and beautiful (subjective) accessory.

They not THE SAME, they are derived from unix. In my opinion linux does a way better job of it, since it actually leaves the user in charge of what's happening.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Just tell them to think twice when the thing asks for an administrator password and all will be fine.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
