I5 4960k vs FX 8350

Hey, so I'm building my first true gaming pc. I've built pcs before, but I'm torn between the 4960k and 8350. I will also be doing recording and twitch streaming.

I was thinking:

Intel mobo: msi z87 g45 gaming.

amd mobo: msi 970 gaming.

I'm really wanting to keep this budget on a leash, I don't make much.

Any opinions?

4690k is way ahead in single core processing. 8350 while decent for its time is showing its age now.

Thats what I was sort of leaning towards. Is the motherboard choice alright for the Intel cpu?

going with Intel is the best choice. The reason why is that AMD architecture is extremely old and the lack of strong cores makes it horrible. Also the CPU's don't improve very often besides the cores that it has. Intel is overall stronger.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

Have any recommendations for price to performance z97 boards? Black and red or only black preferably... and not too expensive :)

The motherboards doesn't really affect performance. Just look for a board that has the features you're looking for.

It's like this...

i5-4690K is the rapist and the FX-8350 is the victim.

FX 8350 will do much better at streaming and recording, but at gaming only 4690K will do better.

No it won't. The i5 can stream/record just fine if not better by using the iGPU.

Yea man, awesome guide!  I've never streamed or recorded before, but your guide simplifies it so well that I think I will give it a go!  Thanks for the write up!

You're most welcome! I thought it'd be important to show everyone why it's so good because there hasn't been much a guide like it before. If you give it a try, tell me how it goes? Always interesting to see how others find use of it.
