Is CM G650M good enough to run asus r9 290x with i5 4690k?

lol1290

So reading from this website I should be good with a 550-600w PSU for the asus r9 290x (dc 2):

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeon_r9_290x_crossfire_vs_sli_review_benchmarks,4.html

So I am planning to get cooler master g650m 650w 80+ bronze:

http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/modular-gm-series/g650m/

I know that the Cooler Master G650M isn't really a good quality PSU, but because I want to get best performance for the price I went with it. Will it be enough watts and amps to run this card?

I also read that by the years using a PSU, it gets ''weaker''/loses watts... something like that, cant remember at the moment and because of that I should get a good quality PSU, can someone explain whats that about?

(BTW i am planning to use this build for 4+ years)

My full build:

Sorry for noob questions :D

I don't trust that calculator as much as I used to. I'd go with 750w 80 plus bronze at least for 290x CF.

CF= CrossFire.

Oh. I thought you were going to be running two of them for some reason.

If you're running just one, you should be fine with that PSU, plus some breathing space.

Sig under construction.

Maybe he misread, CF means crossfire or two 290x's.

For a single 290x, 650 watts will be plenty (a good quality 500-500w PSU would be fine). I cannot comment on this specific PSU though.

RIP in pepperonis m8s

Yup, I know. I have a DCUII card too. I think the PSU will probably last that long, but we have no real way of telling. I've been using the same 500w for 2.5 years (hammering it now) and have never had any problems with it.

Ok, so I found that the CM G650M is tier 3 on the list:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

(after opening the page you have to look under ''Tier 3 - Cooler Master - G modular'')

I think that ok.

Corsair has good psu's, not all. The one you selected is tier 3. Get this one. It is a great PSU.

Some cooler masters are good as well. This one is better quality.

It's always a good day if you woke up breathing.

You're welcome. Sorry, I just forget that there are a lot of different countries represented here.
