Depends on what you are willing to pay. If you are willing to pay the extra, go with a black. If you just want a cheap drive to mass store alot of stuff on, go with a green.

Green just because it is cheaper.

If speed isn't a huge concern get the green. Platter density helps with speeding it up anyways.

WD Green, caviar blue, or seagate barracuda--whichever is cheaper.

Would the Green drive be quieter as well? The 5400rpm vs the 7200rpm of the black?

The black can be quite loud at times. The green should definitely be a bit quieter.

For an extra quiet drive, the WD Red 3TB has an extra thick enclosure that makes it nearly silent.

I wouldn't say that the black is loud, I have a 1TB Black drive and its quieter than my external GoFlex drive! To be honest I can't even hear it, I just figured the Green would be even quieter.

Just a question, I head that the Green drive isnt good for RAID 10 because it changes RPM... Is this true?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.
