Good games for computer with weak stats? I'm loving robocraft

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

How bad? Like my PC bad or worse or better?

Probably emulator games (like GBA emulators) and maybe CS:GO or something or Skyrim.

But it really depends on how bad it is

Half life 2 is great for computers with limited horse power and it just so happens to also be the best game ever created :)

Unreal is the best game for all PCs created after 2000.  It is single-threaded but since it's from 1998 it can run on anything with less than 1GB of RAM and more than a Pentium 4.

It'll run at 60FPs on my Grandma's Pentium 4 PC with an upgrade to 2GB of RAM and a 8400GS.  Whatever your specs are, i'm sure they're better.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

Mind helping us narrow it down? RTS? Shooters? RPGs?

Also, specs?

Honestly, anything but shooters. I find most entertaining, and an willing to try genres I haven't before.

Anything made by Klei Entertainment. Which is to say, Don't Starve, Shank, Shank 2, Mark of the Ninja... even Eets Munchies is decent.

Also, it should run just about anything pre-2005.

  1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas coupled with a graphics revamp mod... oh man, it replaces GTA IV any day. Also a multiplayer (SAMP) with serious roleplay servers which if you do your character right can make for an immsersive experience.

Star Wars: Battlefront II, great first and third person shooter with lots of vehicle selection, mods, and great AI for offline battles.

Project Zomboid is a super extensive isometric zombie survival game with online play, active mod support and respectable community of players, and I'd take it over DayZ Standalone any day.

As others have said, Half life 2 is great, as well as Garry's Mod which is loaded with a ton of multiplayer game modes and mods.

PokeMMO if you like Pokemon but online with a funny side shat, mostly a bunch of /b/tards and redditors

You know what I mean it's a pretty great game. Basically when I say it's the best game ever created I mean it was a really good game that I find hard to separate from my longish list of greatest games ever created.

I've heard it can even be ran on the Raspberry Pi... that says a lot about this game.

Meh. I don't hate Half Life 2. I just think it's incredibly overhyped.

Also, I was looking for an excuse to use that pic. :P

minecraft is the resource hog of cpu-bound games tho.

but i'm pretty sure theres some less intensive games out there you'll like.

EDIT: PS1 emulation runs -EVERYWHERE-

That's not right surely you should be able to get 60fps tweek the settings for example have a reasonable draw distance turn of clouds don't install hd texture maps and anti ailiasing at like x2 stuff like that.

I did. Everything's on low...

EDIT: I found a problem with the cooling(no compound, gratin not screws on). The thread is out there somewhere. I'll find a link if you are all interested. I think the parts might have injured themselves a little. Parts for repair on the way, will be here in a month or so.

That explains it the i7 is supposed to run most any game on low settings at playable framerates plus you have a graphics card, no idea what it is but any graphics card should run minecraft at 60fps. I had a gtx 9400 in my old pc and I was getting 120fps or somewhere in that region. Oh well hope everything gets fixed.

If I get it cooled properly, should it pick up again? Or is it just... Dead?

EDIT: missing a limb. It still works, just horribly.

Hard to tell without seeing it do you know what temps it got up to. Most mobos will turn of when the temps get dangerous so should be fine just make sure your heatsink is fitted correctly and you'll probably want to actually turn it on so the fan can cool it down. But once it reaches normal temps again run a stress test for a bit and see if it's stable in performance and temp.

Why not any game?  I haven't seen any games that don't have settings that can be lowered significantly.

I have Far Cry 3 on an i7 4771 (Intel HD 4600 graphics) and it runs really well on 720p low/medium settings.  It's entirely playable (high 30s fps) and still looks good.
