marioleno23

What is the best power supply for $50? I don't need anything over 500 watts.

I'm with techguru if you can find a good sale on an XFX 500W PSU they area really good value for the quality.

Corsairs CX builder series are decent PSU's also but many seem to have problems with them in the long run.

What kind of dollars are you using? It would help to list your specs.

Have you already purchased these components?  What is the purpose of this build?  We can get you better performance if you are building this machine primarily for gaming.

I have all the components exempt the graphics card. The purpose is gaming/multimedia editing.

Rosewill 450W 80 PLUS GOLD- $64

Antec BP550 Plus 550W (a little iffy, but antec usually makes solid power supplies) - $60

they're all a little over your budget, but it hard to find good 80 plus power supplies at $50

Instead of the 960, buy an R9 280X, its the same price, and much more powerful.  That is actually one of the higher end R9 280Xs, definitely go for that model at that price.

For PSU,

XFX 550W Bronze

The CX600M also goes on sale for around $40-$50 consistently.

I absolutely agree with @Faceman.

Vapor-X R9-280X (for $220 too!) + XFX TS 550W Power Supply.

An alternate PSU could be the Antec EarthWatts 550W: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-ea550green

I have an r9 280x and i can confirm its a beast of a card. Mine overclocks to 1200mhz which is a very nice increase in performance. I dont know how well the 960 overclocks but i fear the 2gb vram might be holding you back quite a bit. Ive been watching afterburner and i get over 2gb usage in most titles.
