Set 1,500 aside for a real beast gaming machine. Buy any monitor you like and then use the rest of your money on a car.

You're going to be real mad when your 10k rig is worthless in a few years...

He can then save up $30k for another PC ;) but you do have a point. He already preordered the ASUS 4k monitor.

? he said 4x7990 in Crossfire. If you went that route, you will have to use dual Xeons I think.

Okay in all seriousness, I'll help you now.

- What will you be using this PC for? Gaming only?

- Does the price include peripherals like monitors, mouse, keyboards, ect.?

- Will you need large storage solutions?

yes i will need large storage and the price is just for the pc the monitor is on preorder and the peripherals are separate mainly for gaming but the very occasional cad rendering

Come on man, this is not a linguistics forum. I don't even bother with capital letters most of the time. As long as everyone understands me...

So much about the ultimate gaming PC :D

I'd like to raise another question, one that maybe cannot be answered right now: Are 4 threads enough for gaming right now and in the forseable future?

I think they definately are.

Just because you have the money, it doesn't necessarily mean you need to spend $15,000 on a PC. And you're gonna be doing 4K gaming. A few Titans will get you close enough. But in all seriousness, spend the other ~5k on something else. Get an X79 system with a 3970X if you really want it, watercool the beast, overclock, then you'll be set.

Most games dont use hyperthreading as of now, iirc. I think 4 threads would be sufficient.

As long as he spends as much on the video card as everything else. I think he should do one modest build for fun and practice (this is OP's first build, right?), then a show build.

good idea but i already have a car that was a present from parents

Petrol then. Is it fuel or petrol across the pond? I don't want to be ignorant.

But really... Spend your money smart and you'll have a much better pc. See my reply above. Oh and Gz on the 4k screen if true!

4 threads are sufficient now, 8 threads are redundant/overkill, but what about in 2 years?

Personally I don't think games will be any more CPU dependant then they are now, so 4 threads will probbably be enough.
