Not bad.
Why the reference cards?

Other than the fans, which might be a bit too much, looks really solid.

Do you really need an optical drive?

looks good to me, but if you're going to stick with air cooling i would recommend going with an aftermarket cooling solution for the 980's, like the evga acx cards. not much of a price difference anyways. better choice overall. other than that though everything looks fine :)

Just a normal guy with a constant desire to modify everything he owns.

1: I'd get a Titan because SLI makes problems like microstutter, or just outright isn't supported by some games

2: I wouldn't use more than 3 case fans because more fans means more noise, and your system will be very cool anyway

You need to have More Drive Capacity atleast 4TB to reflect the cost of that build.  1TB HDDs are for $500 PCs.  This one costs 7 times that.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jxwCVnI would go with a 5960x and a titan x is better than double 980

he wont get any benefit at all from that 5960x not for gaming at least he should go with a 5820k or even a 5930k and a titan x and call it good.
