The GTX 980 seems like a great option, I would almost recommend a GTX 780 Ti 6GB as well. The R9 290X and R9 290X 8GB are also good options.

I would recommend you to wait for the 300 series from AMD(8gb models), or the 8gb models of the GTX 980.
You will find yourself in the same position in the future otherwise, Exept if DirectX12 will be able to stack Vram.

"Aren't cutting it" doesn't imply that he cannot run it, but that he doesn't want to turn down settings that much. The game, maxed out at 1080p, uses around 4GB VRAM. It's very VRAM hungry.

If I were OP, I would consider an upgrade anyways. 2GB VRAM isn't cutting it to run at Ultra 1440p on most games now. Now, if his GTX 670s were 4GB, this would be a different story.

i would be happy if I could play this game on low with 60fps 1440p, its just not worth upgrading except you can sell your current gpus for at least 70% of the price of a new one. I'll just wait till most games wont even give you 30fps+ on lowest setting 1440p
