Ultimate guide for protecting yourself against viruses

Guest
Go to solution Solved by Lamb,

I have AVG anti-virus, but I never had to use it before. I know how to avoid viruses. I just have it there for peace of mind I guess.

Some people are spending 2 hours a day searching and testing antimalware products to protect themselves from viruses.

You know what i say on that? BULLSHIT!

Today i will give you a ultimate advice to protect yourself from viruses for sake of your healthy Windows.

Answer is: YOU DONT NEED ANTIVIRUSES TO PROTECT YOURSELF. A COMPLETE BULLSHIT!

Belive it or not, hundreds of viruses come to the internet everyday trying to steal user's information so they could get money OFF YOU!

What is solution to this? USER EXPERIENCE BASED ANTIVIRUSES AND WEBSITE.

Chances are: that 90 percent of people downloaded program you are downloading before you and they rated it on some websites and programs.

This is one browser plugin i recommend you use. It is called Web Of Trust and it blocks websites based on user experiences on them, you can view the comment section for that webpage and you can find out if webpage is hosting malicious applications. You can find it in mozzila or chrome app store.

Next website is called: virustotal.com

It scans the app with multiple antiviruses on cloud basis and gives you information on detecting of the file, people can report if this application is good or not.

And last and the best: Sandboxie: It isolates the file from the whole system and tricks the virus that sandboxie is actual system itself and it will monitor the acts of the application, if it detects that it is something malicious that the file is doing than it will give you a warning and you can close the app.

It is better to prevent than to heal, and the same applies to viruses.

And just don't be stupid and even without these awesome things you wont be getting into viruses... :)

Hope that helps :D Leave the comments below

All you have to do to not get viruses is not pressing all links or going in to fishy websites.

Also, MSE is free if you have Windows 7 which i would recommend getting. Malwarebytes is also free which is pretty cool because it finds 99% of the viruses..

Also the program WOT - Web of trust, i can't stand that thing on my browser, it slows the browsing down and many of my favorite sites is blocked because of WOT -_-

But anyways, the thing you are trying is really good but not everything is like they say. WOT is a good concept but the problem is there is way to many people who hates a website and then goes full cakemix on that thing and just spams with bad or false information :/

My analogy on getting virus' is: Don't be a dumbass, and click on things you don't know where they're going to go. Don't download unless you trust the website. Don't click on links from people you don't trust/emails for people you don't know/trust. Just be smart, and you wont get ******

I always thought using condoms on my antennas would protect me from viruses, but I guess it doesn't work like that?

I have minimal virus protection on my PC and have been going for over a year now without contracting one. I have zero protection when I'm on Ubuntu, because I'm kind of a boss like that. Decent guide for those that aren't familiar with good internet/email/instant messaging practices, though.

I use MSE and have never had a problem with viruses/malware etc... I carry around a USB drive with a host of portable apps including a rescue kit of virus/malware removal that I've used many times to help out a friend or family member when I've been round and tried to use their computer. +ive Karma for me  :D

I agree that most people get viruses by going on fishy websites and clicking everywhere. Be aware though, that even if you don't see any suspect activity on your computer, you may still be infected by a keylogger or else, putting personnal info at risk. And you can't catch these without an antivirus, so it might be useful to have one, even if you're very cautious with your browsing. (And no, i don't work for an antivirus company, haha !)

I don't run antivirus because MSE is pretty good already and the last time I installed an antivirus I actually got one, I haven't installed one since...

The main thing is don't be stupid when you click on links...

Be a better driver would be the best way to avoid viruses.

For example, having the safest car on the road won't reduce the change of you having an accident, it may be safe but the likelihood remains the same.
