Gtx 980 sli vs titan x 4k

derpyhooves25

I'm looking at some new graphics and I'm stuck between titan x and 980 sli, I can get either confige for the same price so price is out of it, and I will be using dual 4k monitors for video editing but mostly photo editing, and also movies and gaming on single monitor, I was wondering what gpu would be better, I do want to build a silent (at least very quiet) computer also and the will be going into the define r5, which one would be best? I do like the titan x but still can't decide please help :)

I would suggest the Titan X, you won't have the problems associated with SLI, and you won't have to worry about the vRAM getting filled (4GB doesn't really cut it for 4K gaming at all, and even in some 2K games at times).

Yeah that is what I was thinking because I do like to play older games sometimes

Depending on the age of the game, some of them should be able to play at 4K maxed out with plenty of headroom for higher resolutions (Halo 1 and Portal are good examples).

I dont think one titan x can take on 4k unless u are planning to play 30fps. My vote goes for gtx 980 sli.
Here u go titan x crysis 3 ultra no anti ~30fps

The key is older games, and again, 4GB vRAM doesn't really cut it at 4K. And with any graphics card you need 2 in SLI/Crossfire to even have a chance of running the most graphically demanding games at 4K 60FPS highest settings.

I also am curious would a single titan x be good enough to run games at 4k ultra settings?
