So I know Monitors have a 60hz Refresh rate and and turning on v-sync caps the game at 60hz but is there a way to cap games at say 45 frames per second ? just curious maybe a third party software? basically capping a game 60 frames below like 50,40 you get the point.

It is possible, what games do you wanna play like this? The method depends on game

Add a custom resolution to your monitor with the desired resolution/refresh rate and continue to use vsync. No extra programs needed. Boom.

oh well do you get annoyed when your game caps at 60 and then goes down to around 45 (assuming you can feel it because I do ) it gets a little annoying and 45 frames is pretty playable to me. not sure you understood my explanation lol. it's just really annoying seeing frame drop from 60

Capping at 45 FPS is not a great idea on a 60 Hz monitor without G-Sync or Adaptive-Sync. It means one frame would be shown for one screen refresh, the next frame would be shown for two screen refreshes, and so on. That would feel stuttery. Alternatively it could just display the first frame for the first refresh, half of the first frame and half of the second in the second refresh, then the second frame during the third refresh. That gets rid of the stuttering, but instead you get tearing (showing half of an old frame and half of a new frame on the screen at the same time).

It's fine if your monitor can run at 45 Hz though.

vsync caps the game at your monitor's refresh rate. That means with a 144Hz monitor it caps it at 144fps.

But that also means if you set your monitor's refresh rate to for example 40, vsync caps fps at 40.

I know I'm kinda Asking how to Set a custom monitor refresh rate in my question either way I kinda solved it but thanks

Graphics driver. In AMD Catalyst Control Center, it's in Desktop Management -> Desktop Properties. Similar for Nvidia I'm sure. But it depends what refresh rates the monitor actually supports.

How often does it drop below 60fps? May be worth just lowering your game settings a bit and keeping it at 60?

As already said, you should consider 30 over 45 fps. It may sound weird, but some people find it more uncomfortable.

I think it's part of why consoles are capped at 30 rather than 40/50 for example.

I'm telling the truth! I AM a 12 year old girl!

Setting up a custom resolution is the best way I've heard. People are saying you should cap at 30... Don't do it! You can cap at whatever you want. Look up a tutorial on YouTube specific to your GPU manufacturer (nvidia or amd) on how to set a custom resolution or refresh rate. I am on my phone right now so it would be hard to explain
