i5 4.7ghz oc

so last night i was so happy i was finally able to get my i5 4690k to 4.7 stable at 1.3v. it passed every test i threw at it (i dont use adia64 or prime95 because they aren't realistic and can damage your stuff). passed the intel benchmark for 30 minitues and all my gaming benchmarks. but later during heroic blackhand i crashed. (we wiped for 2 hours). anyway my tempatures during the intel benchmark i was brushing up against 80 degrees for a few seconds. of course thats a stress test and i wont hit that kind of load in game. im not an experianced over clocker but im wondering if its safe to try 1.3-1.33v.

1.33v should be fine........... With haswell I believe you should never go above 1.35v then you should get worried! Looks like you got a good one from the lottery so try 1.32 or 1.33 and if you really need too 1.34

If you're at 80C I wouldn't push the voltage any higher. 80 is what I use as the cut-off point. I don't pay attention to voltage -- you usually hit this first.

I've had mine up to 4.9GHz at 1.35, with temps hitting 70 at load. Definitely worth a shot if you can manage the heat.

It is fine. Most people wont recommend you to go over 1.3V but others say taht 1.35 is still acceptable. I cant even go to 1.3V on my 4770k as it would bake my CPU but looks like you got some nice temps.

ya im using the Lepa 240mm aio. its pretty nice.

1.33v should be fine........... With haswell I believe you should never go above 1.35v then you should get worried! Looks like you got a good one from the lottery so try 1.32 or 1.33 and if you really need too 1.34

  so basicly what im getting is that its posable but stupid. its not going to give me cancer but it wont cure my aids.

Then give it a shot, just try it at 1.32 and see if you can get 4.8ghz stable then see if you can get that at 1.31v if you can then use this as a show off clock! and run it at like 4.6ghx normally! It says that my FX is at 4.8ghz which is what I have got it too but that is at like 1.45-1.47v and everyday I run it at more like 4.5ghz and go to 4.6ghz if its needed.

Seems I have more luck then him. My chip almost stayed at 70C° at 4,6ghz. And I don't cool with water, just an average aircooler from prolimatech.

Some people say breaking 80 is bad but I have to say that i think 90 is bad ina stress test so I would add more volts and see what happens!

4,6 seems to be the cutting point when things getting iffy. 4,7 at 1.30 =77C° linpack 4,8 at 1.33= 85C° linpack. <- I consider that way too hot for a daily driver :(

today was a good day. i got a job and i got my cpu to stay at 4.7 and i fixed my air flow problem
