Ultra cheap laptop.. looking in the 200$-300$ range...

I wondering if getting a ChromeBook is better than even trying to get a windows.... Leave you comments :)

you best bet is a hp stream, or a laptop of a smilar price with 4gb of ram and a hdd

 

Another option is to take a cheap windows 8 tablet and put a keyboard on it

but why? tbh im only using it for movies in the car... and (i forget the model name..) but an acer chromebook that has 4gb of RAM and a 1080p screen...

Acer ES1 series, hands down. Best build quality, and if you can find one with a N3540 you've got very good performance too. If you need it only for the most basic things, a chromebook may not be a bad idea though.

I have a HP stream 14-z001na (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/331712-hp-stream-14-z001na/) which has 6.3 hours of quoted battery life, beets audio and will play some indie/old games with its R3 graphics. It does have a 768:1366 screen though.
