Good price-performance cpu for GTX 970

i5 4440 + an h81 board is the cheapest cpu and motherboard combo which will handle the 970. It will also get you very good performance.

But something like an i5 would be great. 

But if you want to edit a lot of videos, stream a lot, and so on, then you should take a look at an i7.

What do you have now? For brand new CPU + mobo, i5-4440 and H81 motherboard is the best performance for the price. However if you already have something like an LGA 1155 board, an i5 3330 or 3470 will be just as good without having to buy a new mobo.

All I see is lower fps from this. and you cant upgrade to a good processor later.

 

 

I can admit that it will perform better in AMD based games though. But still the i5-4440 is doing better overall. (remember the AMD is overclocked.)

Depends on which CPU u decided, cause if you picked something that cant overclock, then you dont need a board that can overclock.

 

So, what was your final decision?

Also choose a socket witch will be upgraded later on, if jou choose to overclock look at the chipset (Z97,A88, H91 A78).

Any Asus board will probably be OK.

Of course there are other boards that will be good, but asus is a solid board.
