Looking to buy 2 laptops for robotics club under $1000 total

My robotics club is looking to buy 2 new laptops and our budget is $1000 to buy both of them.  The most graphics/cpu intensive thing we do is CAD so I'm looking for the best laptop I can get for under 500 bucks. I've found this to be the best option I could find after a short time looking.  Obviously at this price point I'm only going to get an APU at best and the best I could find is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834317602.  I'm clueless when it comes to mobile GPU's and APU's so can someone help me out with either finding something better or is this realistically the best I'm going to get.  Thanks a bunch!

Have you considered buying used laptops? You can get refurbished Thinkpads on eBay for less than 500 a piece. 

Molex to SATA, lose all your data
