emergency gpu

so im assuming most of you have an emergency gpu for when or if your current setup fails or you need to rma yours. mine for a long time has and is a r9 270 (love this card) but im going to be selling to my friend and im looking to get a new emergency gpu i saw a gtx 660 on for 60$ online and i was wondering if this is a good price also if their are any other ideas or suggestions. i just need it to alow me to show up to raid (WOW) and play elite dangerous. im pretty sure most gpu's could do this but i want the emergency gpu to be able to last me for a few months if necessary.

 

any ideas?

Nope I'm SOL if my GPU dies. That 660 is pretty old but still works decently.

I have one as Backup and also an old GTX 9800+ but on that thing you can at best play some LoL.

the only reason im looking for an emergancy gpu because in the last 7 months i have had to rma or return 4 gpu's 1 r9 280x 1 gtx 770 and 2 gtx 970s

At least you have intergrated graphics as an option, no such luck for me till I make the switch to Intel in a few months.

$60 for a 660 seems ok but I would try and get it to $50

I do have a backup 7850. Was thinking about selling it though for like $85. It becomes a point to where you need to either sell it before it becomes worthless to sell or keep it for good and that's that.

 

6850 is not worth $50 in my opinion.  The 7850 barely gets $75 on ebay. I'd be lucky to sell my card for $85. Heck...they what if it only goes for $50...yikes...rather keep it for that ya know. Always a crapshoot.

I keep a 7970 and a 6770 around as spares. Ended up coming in handy since the RMA for my 970 has taken over a month now.

 

It's finally on it's way back now. 660's are solid cards, and at that price you can't go wrong for a good backup.

 

I have seen people selling 580 TIs for $50-$80 sometimes too, never know what you'll find when people upgrade.

I sold my 980s and went to a titan x, will be buying more but can't because of stock right now. 

 

I have an old GTX 680 that works great!  sucks with physX but that's what I dedicate it to.   If both my GTX Titan X die well... got warranty for awhile but my GTX 680's warranty well is gone.... 

Of course... my gpu failing because of power is impossible "would have to kill 6 UPS's in the process!"  but hey, shit happens.   Always have a wall of defense, don't just use 1 UPS use multiple!

I can understand 2 but 6? My god did you lose something? I plan to use my Intel dedicated graphics if my gtx 670 dies and I plan to either keep my 670 as back up or give it to a friend

don't underestimate the power of Intel HD 4600. It can run alot of games in low.
