they will both work fine, just that 2x8 gives you more room to expand in the future

if youre only buying 16GB and dont plan to ever need more than 32 then get 4x4 because it will look better

they are basicly fine.

I would personaly prefer 2133mhz or 2400mhz rams, because most X99 boards support those on stock, so it will save you from ram overclocking headaces.

And 2133 / 2400 are often also a bit cheaper.

cause i was thinking of 8x2 cause eventualy ill get another set then another for 64gb is that worth it for like rendering and stuff and it isnt that much more money for the 2666 and y would i make me have to overclock it

Well what i mean with memory speeds, is that highspeed memory 2400+ is not realy going to make any sense at all.

I personaly prefer a lower Cas latency over high speed.

idk if you realy need 64GB of ram for rendering, Basicly 16GB / 32GB is allready sufficient

Also if you wanne use 2666 mhz you need to overclock the ram, because most boards dont support it by default.

So what u are saying is to go with 4x4 instead of 8x2 and later on get another set for 32gb and 2400 MHz although the asus rampage v extreme Should be able too but Idk

sorry I don't really under stand that stuff if u don't mind could u search up the board( asus rampage v extreme) and see which one is the best for me

If you're referring to the LGA 2011 Rampage V Extreme then 4 x 4 will be better as the platform supports quad channel.

sorry what's a RAM disk

It's a way of using some of your RAM essentially like a super-fast hard disk. Your system dumps data to it from your SSD/HDD when you boot, and copies data from it before you shut down. It's basically the only reason anyone uses 64GB.
