It's a way of using some of your RAM essentially like a super-fast hard disk. Your system dumps data to it from your SSD/HDD when you boot, and copies data from it before you shut down. It's basically the only reason anyone uses 64GB.

Ya I don't know the first thing about that so I might just stick with 4x4 but which one is better the 2666ghz or 2400 cause they are pretty much the same price?

I doubt even in applications that are speed dependant that you would notice the difference between 2666 and 2400.
