on an older laptop, what OS will run best?

Go to solution Solved by ELSknutson,

So I don't know the specs, but its about 4 years old, around $600 at time of buying, so I assume dual core, 2Ghz, 2-4 gigs of ram... running win7 now. thinking about giving it a fresh OS, would win 7, 8.1, or 10 be best to put onto it?

go with windows 7          windows 8.1 you may run into compatibility issues

I would do ubuntu, because it is light. But between 7 and 8.1 it's just what you prefer.
