Upgrade not that fast...

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

I had pretty solid experiences with gigabit in like 2003ish so surprised to see that in 2015

two words: TP-LINK and D-link (and well, honestly any other crappy router brand)

I have a pair of ethernet plugs running at 200 Mpbs and a switch running at 200MPs and 2 ethernet ports running at unto 1000Mpbs. I know the speeds shouldn't be that great but I'm only getting like 180mb in like 4 minutes. Any router config or such I can do to speed this up help please!

Thanks,
James

Umm if I read that right then you're capping yourself at your switch.

Get rid of the 200Mbps things (your ethernet plugs and a switch?)

That is capping it to 180Mbps.

generally, when something is gigabit, but is too crappy to actually provide gigabit, they'll label it something like that.

(or routers that can have a 100Mbit stream between ports 1 and 2, and another between 3 and 4)

oh, and all wifi devices have gloriously random numbers that never actually deliver.
