It looks like the upcoming 'iPad Pro' will have a lightning / USB - C port on the left side. The iPad Pro is rumoured to feature an A8X processor & 2GB of RAM.

It is also rumoured to have a retina display somewhere around 12.2" - 12.9" & of course Touch ID. No mention or leaks of a stylus yet.

TBH I was expecting apple to use a core M processor or even use the same logic board found in the new MacBook.

A8X -> ARM

Core M -> x86

Bit off topic, but isn't "nichtlustig" "notfun"?

http://www.notfunny.com;)

they should just port OSX to arm in my opinion

I bet they already have an ARM version in their drawers.

They had an x86 years before they made the switch from IBM to Intel ;)

Also under the hood OS X and iOS aren't totally different.

I don't know if I like the idea of an iPad pro, It think keeping the iPad separate from the Macbooks is the best course of action, 3 defined product categories, iPhone, iPad, Mac

instead of a hybrid device with all the compromises that brings

That's why they use Unix as a base for OSX. It means that the OS only needs to be tweaked for the different devices, not rebuilt from the ground up.

Aesthetically, not functionality wise, some crossover is fine, integration has always been a key part of OSX

Purely talking from a hardware perspective and a functionality one

I came to this thread expecting no shitposts, I am disappoint.

OT: the iPad Pro keeps getting rumoured at the same rate as Half Life 3 these days. There's no real justification for one, apple seems content on making people who actually want to do work go and buy a proper laptop.

The only place a iPad Pro makes sense to me is OTG cad work or photoshop, where you need decent standalone power. But OSX isn't also very touchscreen friendly. So what would they do.

Omg, yes that would be awesome! Imagine hackintoshing phones!

I love it.

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

- Cave Johnson, founder and CEO of Aperture Science, in Portal 2
