YOU... YOU ARE EVIL!

I don't know how that's "too specific" when an entire PC isn't called a CPU.

Because it's irrelevant to the vast majority or users, by some definition a whole computer is a computer processing unit or central processing unit. I think op just got mad about some minor detail

Intel i5-3570K/ Gigabyte GTX 1080/ Asus PA248Q/ Sony MDR-7506/MSI Z77A-G45/ NHD-14/Samsung 840 EVO 256GB+ Seagate Barracuda 3TB/ 16GB HyperX Blue 1600MHZ/  750w PSU/ Corsiar Carbide 500R

Did the teacher write that on a paper or on the test? If so, Google for proof that you're right (shouldn't be too hard, a printed page with image search results should suffice) and take all your proof to the principal's office.

Point out that someone as tech-illiterate as that has no business teaching tech. This isn't a regular mistake like confusing php with html, it's a complete failure to grasp even the basics.

Honestly, I've seen some dumb stuff in my days, but this is a whole new level of stupid.

That's a normal misconception, but a test? The fuck? Have him google it? Bring him an actual cpu? Give him a lesson? Flip him off?

Have him google it? Bring him an actual cpu? Give him a lesson? Flip him off?Kick his dog? Sleep with his wife? Burn his house down? lock him in a room with a 56k connection? force him to go to a one Direction Concert?

They are "two directions" now

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

If there giving you a test on this subject then it is likely a computer/programming class. Who have this fuck that job?

Bring in your cpu and show him in person. He'd love that! :D

My teacher thinks that the number of cores an i3,i5 and i7 have is number after i-1. LOL

Pretty much this... (Explain to the Principal the fact that there is mis-information being said, kids are there to learn FACTS, not opinions/half-truths)

and then the teacher be like: GET DETENTION

This would no doubt cause a riot from the people who know better, which is everyone but him (Teacher) it seems. (Regardless of the 'get fucked comment above' I'd still have a go at the teacher for not admitting he's wrong)

If I got detention, I'd walk out, get my parents to go to the school with the actual relevant information and cause a shitstorm.

You go to School to learn facts, not fiction.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

One of my teachers calls the desktop as a whole the cpu. He gives us a test, gets points off for calling the cpu the cpu. Talk to him and he straight says im wrong. WHAT?

Inform him of what CPU actually means, Central Processing Unit. Whereas the tower is just a case containing all the parts, collectively referred to as, the PC.

Teachers like this make me weep for society, especially when they refuse to accept being corrected.

Basically this, and if nothing comes of it, go to your parents and have them file a complaint with the school. This kind of ignorance is not acceptable.

snip

Well I guess the whole thing IS a Central Processing Unit

And a Graphics Processing Unit

And everything else inside the PC

Depends on how deep you want to go. Hold up a GPU and you could say no, that's just the cooling unit attached to it.

Sound: Custom one pros, Audioengine A5+ with S8 sub.

Yeah true, but as a tech teacher, he could also have clarified that too.

That, and the fact that he disagreed with the OP when he was corrected, he doesn't know what he's doing.
