Virtualization is perfectly fine the problem is when you don't have backups :P It can happen even when its not virtualized in my case I was incredibly unlucky that I lost some critical files. Backup Backup Backup. And DONT have only 1 backup alternate so it backs up to 1 file and then the next time to a secondary then back to the first.

Well... our hardware often means that everything fails... including backups at times (there are 700+ users). Oh, and most of our hardware is fairly old so it will probably crash like the main servers did last year (apparently we don't have a disaster recovery plan...)

Oh lovely.... In that case the only thing you can do is invest in the cloud for backups and/or get new hardware.... :(

If we could afford it. Apparently we just got £19,000 worth of server equipment (no drives)... We have our priorities I suppose.

Yeah, I was looking at getting some decent drives for my server. I believe that we may use WD Red, since we have several TBs of data to store. My 2TB drive cost £80, which imo is not that bad.
