Craigslist advice please

Someone offered to meet me at Starbucks and pay me for the laptop that I'm selling through PayPal because he needs to pay with a credit card I think. He said he'll send the money as a gift. Is there a risk for me? Could he take the laptop and then dispute the charge?

Yes he could, don't do it. Tell his bitch ass to pay in cash or to fuck off. Not too hard to go to bank and ask for a withdrawl.

If he gives you a Paypal gift payment through a credit card he can simply do a chargeback on the credit card to Paypal, who will then not give you the money. 

 

It's basically fraud, and you obviously can't say you sold anything to him because it was a gift payment.

You should only accept cash, make him go to a bank and get it out. He can then pay the card off later.

Large payments take about a week or two to go through before you can actually do anything with them. Paypal does some stuff to confirm it's legit, during that time it'll show up in your account, but it can still be redacted
