I have Artic MX-4 with a few uses left and I was wondering if I should replace the thermal paste on my GPU?

I already watched Linus' video about thermal compound upgrade but as he said it's temp improvement is varied.

Does anybody know is the thermal paste msi use is shit or not?

Thanks :)

Meh, MSI are good I do not think they would skimp out on thermal paste for their GPU's. Also it would only improve it by a few degrees (or none!)

Don't forget that the MSI 970 was the second cheapest yet second best performer at launch...

This could be due to price cuts..

Unless you are getting bad temps, its not worth the risk of messing around with things that are performing fine

Aftermarket thermal paste is pretty good.

I already know this..

Could you elaborate a bit more?

But I did overclock A LOT so could I not benefit from lower temps?

I mean I do hits the 80c wall I like to stay away from..

@Tim Drake This ^^^

It is kinda risky (well not really) but like @ShadowCaptain said if it is fine then do not bother. (80c is fine for OC Load on a GPU anyway)

This is the golden rule of all tech: don't touch it, until it works fine.

So, no, you shouldn't.

80ºC on a non-reference cooler even though it's OCed? And they say AMDs get hot... Geeze.

Unless you're overclocking for bleeding edge performance and you build P.C.s like automotive enthusiasts go for speed records I personally wouldn't worry about it. It'll void your warranty carries risk of damaging the card and means a lot of work.

The difference at best will probably only be a couple of degrees and it might even make it worse (the factory application might actually negate the benefits of a less efficiently applied but more effective alternative).

I meant the thermal paste on the msi aftermarket card. The thermal paste on a amd reference card for example is pretty bad.

I replaced the thermal past on my Msi card and saw a very very small drop :/

But you have a different card.

I think I will just leave it then, thanks guys :)

I'll probably just invest in a NZXT G10 + H55 if I can find more info on it :)
