iMac mid 2011 temperature sensor problem

Go to solution Solved by UltraNeonGaming,

I've replaced the hard disk and installed an SSD on my iMac 27" mid 2011 but after the first boot the fans start spinning at full speed. The Apple hardware test show the error 4SNS/1/C0000008: TAOP--124 (ambient temperature sensor) but iStat can read the temperature and I can read the value that change whit the multimeter. Even whit the original hard disk and without the SSD the fans still spinning at full speed.

What can I do?

Thanks

This is a common issue when replacing the HDD on an iMac, don't worry there is an easy fix though!

This site explains the issue: http://www.hddfancontrol.com/imac-hard-drive-replacement-fan-noise-issue/ ( DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE!)

Download this free software: http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control

It is amazing! I believe it fixes the issue after you use it without changing the fan speed (Meaning once you first install it and open it, it should fix the issue, I think so it says in the chanelog), this software also has a bootcamp version which you can use when you are in bootcamp on your mac, overall this is the best software to fix this issue and also control the fan and monitor temps if you want.
