So i was just wondering what i need for rendering videos do i need a fast cpu like the pentium G3258 or a cpu with 6 or 8 cores from amd?

Thanks!

Depends on the price point.

Also, why not use the other topic you made?

All CPU s will render videos , it all downs come to how long time it takes. More cores and faster clock will result in faster rendering times. If you dont plan to make money with your RIG then theres no point of getting a 6 or 8 core , 4 core intel with or without HT will do just fine.

you could get a cheap 4 core xeon which would perform better than both...

There are also programs than let you use the GPU to assist encoding, and greatly boost the speeds at which you finish tasks.

Pairing a slower CPU within the budget and using GPU assisted encoders,.. can help you not break the bank.

If your doing PRO work, CPU only probably has better quality outputs,.. but for youtube and such hobbies,... you can do a lot with less.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

How many cores you need depends on the application you're using. In single-threaded applications the G3258 is going to perform around where any other Haswell processor of the same clock speed does, whereas multi-threaded apps are almost a worst-case scenario for it. It's best to consider the G3258 a good gaming processor for $75, as you can't rely on it for much else.

What to recommend instead depends on your budget, workload, and goals, though.
