Ill being doing 3 way gtx 980 or a 2 way gtx titan x

What's your use case scenario? You could go the cheaper route and go with a Z97-based system.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

I mean at this point just go balls out and get a Deluxe. Just having the round thing adapter pisses me off lmao.

Intel 4790 K - R9 295X2 - Gigabyte Z97-SLI - Corsair Vengeance Pro Black 1866 CAL9 - Corsair HX 1000 -Samsung 850 EVO SSD - Samsung HDD - H100I - Corsair C70 - G400 Logitech - Asus VS247H - WASD custom mechanical and QCKPAD!

Staples of LTT: Getting an 4690 K will resurrect your lost family members, AMD = More heat thus AMD = Satan.

I went with an X99-A, no regrets.

If you need one of these two get the Pro, I don't see the point of Deluxe at all.

What if you want to have a blender plugged in with USB?

 What kind of problem sir?

I wrote this as an answer to an other topic but I believe it is applicable her as well:

I did an extensive research when I was buying my own X99 board, of course it had to be M-ATX to fit my 350D, but still I went through every forum and every topic out there, which was concerned with the X99 platform. What I can say is that I wouldn't recommend anything other than ASRock for an X99 board (not talking about z97, etc), with the exceptions being something from the Asus WS Series boards or the Rampage Extreme, both of witch are very expensive and quite frankly not worth it unless you are going total overkill.

The Asus Deluxe boards have had terrible BIOSes, some even causing the VRM to physically burn out taking out the processor with them. That issue was supposed to be addressed, but I stumbled across other peculiar stuff regarding some newer BIOS revisions for this board, can't remember what exactly though. Anyway, it wasn't good news.

I used to like the MSI X99 SLI a lot, really a lot, but then I read that it has terrible build quality and I have read of users whose boards literally fall apart. Could the board be cheap for a reason... possibly. Also check in the vendor websites about who gets the most BIOS update roll outs. Last time I checked MSI had only the original (v1) BIOS listed for downloading.

Gigabyte did such a poor job with their X79 motherboards that I just can't get around to trusting them with this enthusiast chipset. The BIOS thing is also heavily in play here as well.

I currently have the ASRock Fatal1ty Killer M-ATX board and it has been perfect so far with no issues at all and it has been sustaining my 4.5GHz overclock with quite a decent voltage, especially after the latest BIOS revision. I used to have my 4.5GHz with 1.29V and now I can do the same with 1.28, which might not sound like a lot, but trust me it is like 5-6C difference under full load (Aida64).

Hhmm this is interesting. I've never had asus products before, and to be honest i plan to try one.

What about evga? Do u have any experience with their product?

EVGA used to have terrible, terrible motherboards, but now they are doing alright. They till have some problems with the BIOSes, but for X99 the most serious issues have been addressed.

hhm.. To be honest, i like evga Z97 classified design. It looks so cool. Or, Evga X99 micro.

They're still in my list till now.

How about those motherboards? Are they ok?

Asus build quality is excellent but for x99 Asrock nailed it! Asrock's Ws board is cheaper and better imo

I wonder, why asrock is always cheaper than other brands? It seems they're using a more expensive material rather than other brands. Especially on heatsink. Am i right?

I guess Asrock doesn't want to rip off its customers! Asrock build quality is good and their bios imo is good too

I don't know about the heatsinks

Yea.. As far as i know, they always use aluminum as their heatsink main material. Even for cheaper class mobo.

Not like other brand that uses plastic and plastic composite for their cheaper mobo

Those boards are ok boards, nothing wrong about them. The only thing is that the X99 Micro from EVGA has a lesser VRM design and is sometimes prone to overheating under very high load and high overclocks on a 5960X.

About ASRock, they are not that cheap. Their X99 boards are more expensive than MSI for example, and yes they do have a better VRM and heatsink design than that of other manufacturers.

ASRock really deserves more attention than they are getting now! They make good boards and really care about the customer (for now)

Other brands are good but right now for x99 Asrock nailed it even JayzTwoCents said so in the review about the x99x killer mobo
