ASRock really deserves more attention than they are getting now! They make good boards and really care about the customer (for now)

Other brands are good but right now for x99 Asrock nailed it even JayzTwoCents said so in the review about the x99x killer mobo

Yea.. I saw that review. The only problem that asrock has (for me) is their heatsink design. I don't like how it looks. Maybe they will get my attention if they can adopt asus X99-E WS heatsink design. That will be a lot cooler

Are you going for a themed build?

I guess the gpu will hide the heatsinks if you don't like them

Also what part of the heatsinks is bugging you? The design or the colour or both?

What about Z97 classified from evga sir? Is it a good to go?

Well, it is an ok board, nothing wrong with it, but me personally I would go with something else when it comes to Z97. The MSI Z97 X-Power is a very good board imo. Asus and Gigabyte also have decent options out there. EVGA in general for motherboards are fine, but meh... I wouldn't buy one, especially considering the price premium.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here

Yeaa.. I wonder why evga is always (almost always) morr expensive and their budget class is not that "budget"

The only thing that i like from them is their design. This Z97 classified's heatsink is one of the best looking heatsink in market.

Yep but asus after sales service sucks asrock's service isn't too good but much better! Too much better! Well what colour build are you going with?

Hhhmm.. Maybe i'll go for black or dark grey for next upgrade. Right now, mine is blue.

If that's the case then the Ws board from asus is the only option

that mobo is damn expensive hahaha...

i dont need those features anyway, it's too much for me

i'm still waiting for the next broadwell CPU so i can decide to go with Z97 or X99

or is it going to be upsized or downsized.

my option for upsize

Z97 : Evga Z97 Classified

X99 : still don't know

and for downsize

Z97 : MSi Z97M Gaming or Asus Maximus VII Gene

X99 : Evga X99 Micro

maybe u have any suggestion.

Do you have a z97 system now?

If yes don't upgrade for gaming

If you want z97 there is no need to wait as broadwell and skylake won't offer sky high IPC improvement

If you want to do professional work then go with x99

For x99 there is no other grey board except the asus Ws

For z97 go with the evga classified and paint that E on the heatsink with gray colour

For matx go with the maximus gene and x99m killer from asrock for x99 it has red black colour theme like the gene

i'm using Z87 system right now.

and maybe i'll go with Z97 on next upgrade.

to be honest, i'm using Z87 also for professional works and it's doing great, no complaint at all.

is there any posibility that there will be any new chipset for broadwell? or they will stay with Z97 until skylake?

That asus WS is way too overkill for my needs right now.

and Z97 classified has the most most perfect shape and color scheme for me so far.

i love the way it looks and i really hope that they make an MATX version of Z97, but they didn't the only MATX option right now is X99 Micro.

but, there is something strange. i don't see a fancy audio module such as Sound Blaster on Gigabyte or audio boost on MSi. is it ok? will it performs worse than other brands?

why i prefer maximus series rather than asrock is because it has less red.

i don't like too much red. hahahaha..

sorry buddy. i don't mean to make asrock as a bad choice, i just don't like how they looks.

sorry to give u so many question.

regards :D

It's okay everyone is allowed to have their opinions

Most people don't like asrock so it's nothing new as they have not made quite a name as asus or any other brand

If you have a z87 system you can hold up your upgrade till skylake or even after that without problems

Till skylake intel is using z97 new chipset after broadwell

But in your case if you have a z87 system you really don't need to upgrade till something like 2-3 generations from now

After skylake you can upgrade and it will be a worthwhile upgrade

Just don't upgrade to z97 as it won't make any difference (if you have a decent i5 or i7)

yea.. many people said the same as u.

im using i7 4770 right now. its a good CPU and serves me well.

the only change that i wanted is downsizing or upsizing my PC. i dont like my PC case right now. i want a new one so i thought  that "why not changing the mobo size also?"

coz i think i won't upgrade my GTX 780 until i can afford a higher resolution monitor. that 780 works really well with my Dell U2410 1920x1200.

so.. the next upgrade will be Mobo and Case maybe. but, if i (at last) buy a Z97 mobo, can i still using my i7 4770 on it?

Yep 4770 works with Z97 but as you have a locked processor why a z series mobo?

What is your preferred mobo size?

Like i said before buddy. I want to upgrade my mobo and CPU. That's why i was asking about broadwell on early post.

When i bought 4770, the 4770K was sold out. So if i upgrade my mobo, i want it ready for an unlocked i7 broadwell. That's why i'll go with Z series

Well then if you are going for multi-GPU configurations then atx if not then the matx is a good option as you said before if you want to go z97 matx then the gene and if x99 matx then the evga micro

That's what I suggest

To be honest, i'm still curious, why people is worshiping asus ROG series. What is the "real" benefit from them?

The msi board looks good and has all the features you need for a much cheaper price also the aesthetics are good

You won't go wrong with that msi board

I dont like msi and ROG aesthetics that much but, they're a lot lot lot.. Better than gigabyte.

Oh, i wonder what are these things doing?

Why asus ROG always have more

Those are the capacitors and power phases (vrm)

Basically more of those things better the overclocking
