Saw listing for an nice SSD on Ebay and I going to doing a new build soon and I thought I could buy the SSD now instead of later to avoid a bit of hassle of moving the OS and some other stuff to the ssd later. Is it risky? The guy selling it has a 100% positive reputation

Broke 14 Year old + No job + Love for Technology = Bad combo :(

Google him and see if he has had any trouble in the past with someone.

Buying stuff off eBay in general is allways risky but if you turn on your common sense and look for a trustworthy offer, nothing can go wrong.

Buying SSDs used is a good idea. Many people are still under the impression that the performance of SSDs fades quickly and that they will die soon. That keep prices low.

who cares...

Yup, think of Linus's setup. That's still running those 8 used SSDs, right?

Sig under construction.

this is my second time typing this cause the forum bugged -_- so I am going to be quick and to the point. I saw A listing for a cheap SSD on ebay and the seller has 100% positive feedback and I need to know if there is risks of buying used storage and want to know if anyone has experience.

again link?

Ask the seller a question first on the item page at the bottom before doing anything. Also avoid if they do not have an actual picture of the item, or are selling multiple SSD's at once.

talk to the seller first, and avoid buy it now listings that look shady. having been through paypal dispute/claim before to get money back, I can tell you its better to miss a good deal than to deal with a scammer.

they don't give that info, just that it's in good condition

that doesnt mean anything

this is why you shouldnt buy used storage

people wont tell you how worn it is

it could be about to die and you wont have any idea until a few months after buying it

Storage is one of the few things I won't buy used. I like to have warranty for ssd and hdds. Storage has the highest fail rate of all the pc components. At least in my experience

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

Linus' SSDs are refurbished, although I don't know what has to happen to refurbish an SSD.

This is pretty much why you shouldn't buy anything like PC hardware used, most people selling it hardly know anything about it and don't give vital information.

I've bought countless parts used and never  had any problems. Half of my current build are used parts. Ebay and Amazon are usually reliable because they give you protection if the seller does something wrong but typically I stick to buying on forums though because it's cheaper most of the time. You can always ask for more info and sellers are usually happy to provide the info you want.
