Okay, once and for all, is milk good for you or not?

Guest

I don't like it and I am truly skeptical that it is as healthy as people say it is, not because I don't like it.

I don't get calcium from milk directly anyway :P

I barely even consume cheese/yoghurt etc.

But people will see this post and say 'OMG HE DOESN'T LIKE IT, THAT'S WHY HE IS SAYING THIS' and then confirm that as fact. Like @GrimNeo does.

You clearly stated you don't like milk. lol. You just want people to talk about why milk is good for you. You don't need to drink milk and you can get calcium from other sources. Either way I doubt your getting the recommended amount of calcium per day.

Yes, but you are saying 'correct' to a statement that basically said I don't like milk so that I must convince others not to like it. WHich isn't true.

Also no, I probably don't get my calcium, but that's not the discussion at hand really.

Then why do you care what other people think about milk. Milk is good for you. End of story. What are you comparing milk to? Lets compare shall we. Milk vs Pepsi. I think its obvious milk is the healthier choice but I can post stats if you want to compare the two. Also depends on the percentage of milk. Even if people tell you its good for you. Are you going to start drinking a product you clearly stated you don't like. What is the point of all this?

I don't care so much what other people drink, that is what you make of it.

I don't deny it is good for you, but does it outweigh the bad that we potentially don't know about? That is the question. THAT is the point.

Milk vs Pepsi? What is this? Read the thread a little, I said clearly in several posts that it couid not be as bad as soda. That would be pretty impossible.

This reminds me of the guy that told me water is bad for you. He said it's bad because of all the chemicals they put into water and those chemicals harm your body. It depends on how the milk is produced from the manufacturer and if they are putting anything into it. The plastic container that milk is being stored in can harm you as well. You would have to look at the plastic # code on the bottom to see what type it is. Gum is bad for you as well if it has aspartame in it. There are so many things bad for you. Also not going to read the rest of this thread because I see no point.

Finally something that I am out for.

This is what I wanted at least. This kind of info. But I found that link on google too and also said that I don't entirely trust that article because it seems biased toward thinking it's bad.

Probably should but they have us working 3 jobs now. I'm not getting paid extra and they said I'm expected to do it. I use to care but now I'm just pissed off all the time. HR won't help us either even though it was never in the contract I signed. I should say that a select few get to work only one job and make bonus becuase they get to focus on a single job. I don't make bonus anymore and that's $1500 a month that I miss out on. end rant. sorry.

Fair point.

You wrote "I don't deny it is good for you, but does it outweigh the bad that we potentially don't know about? That is the question. THAT is the point."

Thats my problem with you attitude in this question. The bad we don't know about? What the hell is that? The only "problem" with milk is that the recommended daily intake might be slightly higher than needed. Nobody is saying that milk is actually bad for you. No one serious scientist at least.

Read the harvard article.

I am pretty sure that I read it on other websites, that it has disadvantages that are not immediately apparent.

But I will go read it now.

Are any of those websites run by universities and scientists or for profit "nutritionists"?

Read the harvard article.

Okay, so conclusion is that an increased intake of lactose can possibly cause ovarian cancer. And possibly it has an effect on prostate cancer. But that's it.

These are primarily caused by hormonal changes in industrial milk.

Well glad to know this now.

Everything might cause cancer...But the ovarian thing is better researched at least.

Pretty sure that won't be a problem for you;-)
