Was just wondering if there were any flight simmers around here. Would love to have a chat with my fellow captains.

Nice! You're a GA guy I assume?

I'm more of a heavy metal flyer. I mainly fly the 777 on FSX but I sometimes do fly the MD-11 for FedEx.

X-Plane 10 pilot here. Love to fly the big commercial airliners. Sadly, Microsoft Flight Sim crashes too often. Having huge problems with it and can't find a way to fix them.

EDIT: Reinstalled it and did the Rome mission. No crashes. This wasn't possible before.

I'm trying to get into it, slowly hoarding CH gear as i see good deals for it

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

PMDG? I had to save up a loooong time just to get the 777 alone.

Yeah FSX crashed all too frequently. I've prolly tried over a thousand ways to solve it with files all over the internet.

I'm still flying on FSX tho. Only because PMDG doesn't have aircrafts for XP10. Althought the A350 for XP10 looks amazing.

I need to save up for a yoke and throttle. I've been flying on mouse and keyboard since I've started simming.

I saw some guy using 3 47" TVs in surround for flight simming. It's amazing as hell. Wish I had the space to run 3 monitors.

Another Virtual pilot here.  FSX, PMDG 737 whenever I get the chance.  Every so often get a chance to meet up with a few friends during events with a community I'm with (one of the members is a 777 pilot IRL (used to fly 737's up until a couple months ago), so it's nice to get tips etc from someone who has actually flown the planes and knows them), nice to fly along side some real people instead of the AI every now and then.

I too wish I had enough space to run 3 monitors of that size for simming...and the bank balance to afford them, lol.  I currently run a dual monitor setup, but only use one monitor for FSX along with a Speedlink Black Widow Flight Stick.

Nice! I know that there's aviation meetups here in my country too but I've been too busy to attend them. They do have both a 737 and a A320 full motion cockpit simulator here as well but you gotta sell your house to get into the captain's seat LOL

How's the 737? I bought the 777 from PMDG but I'm not sure if I should invest in the 737 as well.

I have no yoke or throttle, I fly on keyboard and mouse but I do have 2 screens as well so I can pull up approach and departure charts on the second screen.

Meh, when I fly, I want it to be as close to real life as possible. I even have the checklists the pilots use in real life. There's a reason why an aircraft addon costs 90 bucks. ;)

It's a really well made addon, from what I can tell it's very realistic (not that I've ever flown a 737 to actually confirm), but I get the impression that PMDG are good at making realistic addons.  If you've got the money I would suggest getting it, very nice aircraft to fly.  At the moment that's all I fly on FSX, unless I'm participating in an event, then we normally go with the smaller aircrafts.

Hows the 777?  I was thinking of getting that at some point.

I have no yoke or throttle, I fly on keyboard and mouse but I do have 2 screens as well so I can pull up approach and departure charts on the second screen.

I have respect for anyone who is able to fly in FSX with the keyboard and mouse, last time I tried I overstressed the aircraft about 5 seconds after take off every time due to my mouse sensitivity always being too high, lol.  I would suggest getting some kind of flight stick with throttle control though, gives it that something extra that you can't get with a keyboard and mouse.

I had originally planned to use my second monitor for the charts etc, but ended up printing them out after the one time I tried to click on my second monitor and FSX crashed.  I had tried to pull up the approach info ready, but never got a chance to use it, lol.

The 777's really realistic and automated. Actually, very highly automated due to the Fly By Wire system which is actually modelled really well by the folks at PMDG. I would say that it actually deserves the 90 bucks I gave them. I wish there was a 777-200ER with the Rolls Royce engine tho. That would be amazing.

No need to respect me for that. I actually have to pause the sim to press buttons with my mouse before resuming the approach LOL Plus, I leave the autopilot on till minimums or 1000ft before handflying the plane.
