never heard of it

from first impressions, it looks sketchy imo

They've been around a very long time. They're very much a benchmark archiving website. Also, their speculative benchmarks are extremely accurate when within a month of release. Before that they turn into garbage rather quickly.

Let's put it like this. WCCF has a better track record than Chip Hell.

Chip Hell you have to deal with more carefully. When within about a month of a card's release, their benchmarks get damn accurate. Before that, garbage.

Finally a GPU that's worth upgrading for.(If I had the money )
The 980 was to slow to be worth the upgrade for me personally and the GTX1080 will be to close to Pascal which is such a huge jump with 16nm/3D Ram/Unified Virtual Memory/NVlink that that upgrading to 2nd gen Maxwell seems almost stupid unless you have no problem with buying a GPU every year.

Pretty nice. Die probably is huge though.

IMO that's a good thing, means it'll run cooler since there's more surface area to make contact with the cooler.

*Fingers crossed that it is $700-800 and with custom coolers, and not just reference.*

700-800$ would be lunacy considering top tier 980's go for that.

That's the idea.  Have it take the place of the top tier 980's, and pave the way for the the 990 to come in around August with the 1080 in October.  That's how my mind configured it all.
