GTX 970 Owners Club

How do you keep your memory cooler? I can get my Samsung memory to 2063 with just the std EK Backplate.

Also do you have your set up on a test bench or in a case?

As all of my benching is done in my Define S case with the side shut. Just like this.

20150915_1043421.jpg

I'm going to give Valley a run when my SSD gets delivered & install Windows 7.

I think I only need 17 more points to get the highest score.

Then I have to hope for a cooler day, as it is coming into warmer weather here.

Or put it out in the family room in front of the Air Cond blowing 16c (61f) air onto it :)

I took a spare 140mm fan and propped it up at the end of the GPU block.  I don't know if it actually helped, or if it was just a placebo effect, but...eh

That, and I have a lot more radiator space...it's been staying about 19-20c in my pc room since the cooler weather started kicking in, so the GPUs are running a nice and chilly 28c under load.

Man that's nice & chilly.  My room atm is 23c at almost 11am. As you can see mine gets up to 45-48c under load.

Think i might just point the air cond towards it just to see "if" it can be pushed any further along.

The 1.3V bios does not work for me it looks like . The voltage never goes over 1.275v.

Another weird thing is that i was able to push core to +170 stable at +50mv core and 130 power limit but then the weird part happened.

As soon as i started to increase memory speed ( even by +100) it started to have artifacts and stutters, it even crashed a couple of times.

And the results with somewhat stable core clock gave me only +155 core and +500mem. that yield  the same performance as what i can achieve on stock voltages with +150 core and +800 mem.

or +140 core and +900 mem.

So does anyone have any idea how to get any more juice out of it or am i doomed with an average silicon?

gpu-z will never read over 1.275v on a maxwell card, can confirm with dmm it works

After using your 1.3v bios as a base and then fiddling with the power tables I was able to achieve

1518 core by gpu boost and 2000 mem 100 % Stable might try to push a little more tomorrow tho.

Was wondering if the "Same BIOS" limitation of  ye ol SLI still applies?  Was thinking of getting a 2nd G1 on Black Friday, but not planning to flash the new card.  Would SLI just work?

It'll work, but only at the speed of the slower card.

gofspar has been a super bamf in helping me get my shit sorted out

after hard modding my 970 FTWs and a custom bios from gofspar, i could run a stable 1600 mhz and +500 mem on my card

thanks bruh

Oooh, can I see the bios file?  I'm curious what the differences are in the one I ended up with.

The card is still running stable (so far, at least, having tested it in Unigine Valley and The Witcher 3 on max settings) with a pretty good overclock. Pushed the memory to +350mhz now, not seeing any artifacts or crashes, and with a custom fan curve I manage to max out at 74 degrees. So far I'm very happy.

Does GPUZ not say anything about PerfCaps?

Hmm...a bios mod works to raise the power limits on the FTW.  I'm running mine at 330 watt power limit and TDP via the bios, and never hit a power limit.  If it works, it works, I guess.  = )

Made another run at trying to break 13k on a single card...not quite there.  Trying to push for a 15k graphics score, but....that's pretty far off yet.  I need moar volts....

I had my score decreasing with extra voltage, even tough I had a higher clock.

I can run Firestrike through at 1633, but it's unstable.  I think more volts would help to keep the clock more constant, and more stable.
