Some will say the GTX 970 is still a great card and I agree with that, but will you still buy it? The other thing is will you still recommended it?

Let's say you work in a computer shop, and a customer or your friend comes in and wants you to build them a gaming computer. Both of them have a budget of $1,000 and one thing they requested is, it must have a Nvidia graphic card. Knowing the GTX 970 has vram issue, do you

1. Tell your customer or friend about it and let him decide on whether they want it or not

2. Go with the GTX 980 or GTX 960

3. Persuade them to go with a AMD card

4. Pretend you don't know about the problem

I'm not fooling myself at all. You see, that is what I'm sure they were 'trying' to do. I honestly think it would have been a great marketing strategy if they had announced from the beginning that it has a slower .5gb vram. The truth is, they HAD to cut down .5gb in order to fit another gb of vram in the first place. Otherwise it would have simply been a 3gb card. Where nvidia went wrong is not by giving is crippled ram, but by lying to us and not telling us in the first place.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have 4gb (3.5 + .5 slow) of VRAM than 3gb.

Still, they lied and I'm not happy about it.

Yeah because that .5 when in use has GDDR5 speeds and you don't suffer from stuttering.

Set your DSR to 2x or above native resolution via the Nvidia control panel, and then tell me it's not a problem.

Also the false advertising thing, which continues.

a lot of companies false advertise. I can confirm the company I worked for false advertised and as a result thousands of people lost their homes. I think its obvious losing your home over false advertisement is more important than some vram issue. Also the company got sued and lost 6 billion but were still in business.

GTX 970 I rate 3,5 out of 4 MUAHAHAHAHAHAA 360NOSCOPE970'S

True enough. I was just pointing out that we've caught them with their pants down, and we should not just let that go.

Sad thing is most people will forget or not even hear about it. It's just the world we live in. The company I work for is still number 1 and getting sued did not even hurt us. Still people buy and do business with us. They did a survey and most people forgot about the issue they had after a month. Typical response was I didn't even know I called in for that. For every customer we lose we gain 2 more.

According to what I've been told on this forum, it is exactly a chopped down 980.

And it's more like 3.5gb of GDDR5 Vram, with an extra .5gb DDR3 Vram.

Which is what pisses me off, they continue to say "4gb of GDDR5 Vram" when the extra .5 runs at system memory speed, which in my mind disqualifies it as being "GDDR5"

Lower than System RAM :P
