0 is off and 1 is on. The power sign you see on a lot of monitors is just a combination of those two. 0s and 1s, it's how a computer works.

also, my z97 says on the cpu socket cover lga 115x, i have a 15 4690k so that works right

 

Yes. The x means any number. So its same with 1155, 1156 and 1150.

I like to think of it like 1 and 0, 1 emits power 0 doesn't

I've always (well since i knew about 0,1) thought of it that way lol

actually, that's a great explanation and probably what OP needed. 

I actually went to see what Wikipedia had to say about that,

and I laughed my ass off when I saw a picture of the Xbox 360 RROD to show the symbol.
