Why 16gb RAM and an i5 for a 960?

I'm putting a 970 or a 290x in it when I get the money...

 

Just a temp card until I can afford better...

 

My mum will get the 960 when I get better stuff for myself...

Your mother will certainly enjoy great performance. The 290x is beast for the price.

I was not sarcastic, 960 is good. I endorse the 290x completely, I don't use it, I have nvidia cards, but I have used it in builds for others a lot and it is great for performance and value. I figure you know that already.

Only thing I know about the 290x is it needs a big power supply and idk if I wanna upgrade my power supply...

What do you have now? Forgive my ignorance, I saw the build but I am jumping between threads as people reply. A 650W or more is what I'd say is good enough.

I'm using a Corsair 550w, semi and it's a 80+ bronze...don't feel like scrolling through this looking for the model haha

That would be borderline, but the 290x is absolute beast. EVGA power supplies are pretty cheap now (at least in Canada).
