I was browsing the offers from NCIX and I started searching for the price of several products that apparently had big discounts but I noticed that even after the discounts the price was usually higher at NCIX. For example

Microsoft 4000 keyboard:

- NCIX "weekly special" with advertised 38% discount: $38 http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/34942/1423

- Amazon with regular price: $29 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000A6PPOK

How does the discounts really work? Is this just false advertising or is there something that I'm totally missing?

I would appreciate if someone from NCIX could step in and provide a clear answer.

Thanks.

Yeah. I can see some people seriously getting fucked over by that crap. It's a real piss off.

I remember the time someone posted a GTX 960 in Hot deals, but they had it listed "originally" for like $679 or something.

Literaly, every single retail mega store does that. Before they do a "25% off" sale on a certain item its not uncommon for the eomployees to come around a couple days before and mark up the items 10% or so, so that 25% turns into a 15% final sale. It's a pretty common thing today xD     Target, walmart, big 5, sports chalet, fry's electonics, and the like all do it.

Yeah, I'd believe it. It's totally dishonest and dishonesty seems to be acceptable these days. Society is going the way of the dodo. :(

Yeah. I can see some people seriously getting ****ed over by that crap. It's a real p*** off.

Sorry, but would you mind not using that kind of language when replying to my posts, thanks :).

I agree, it's quite corrupt in a way. All for the purpose of getting more money out of people. It's just not right. :(

I remember the time someone posted a GTX 960 in Hot deals, but they had it listed "originally" for like $679 or something.

That's crappy. Makes me mad. Did they get in trouble for it?

I see this all the time too. I wondered how they can get away with it as well.

Newegg does the same thing. RoG Swift has always been listed as $899.99 with a "$100.00" discount. The nice thing about online shopping is it takes you all of 3 seconds to find out what other sellers are charging.

I guess that a lot of companies do this, but given that for online shopping you can just compare with several stores in just a few clicks I wonder why is this still happening.

I think Amazon's actual price is always lower than the list price, I bought the same keyboard for a friend a few years ago and it was about $32 so the price has been constant.

BTW, I really like how active this community is :), I think I'll be around here often.
