DiscountExtensi

Stigs

I don't know if this is in the right thread, but anyway, for whatever reason, for the past three weeks or so, my desktop has had the extension in chrome, DiscountExtensi.  Every time I try removing the extension the normal way, it just "reinstalls" itself into the browser and puts adds everywhere.  It sometimes restarts chrome on its own too.  I looked around for an easy way to get rid of it, but really seems like it's going to be a pain.  If anyone can help me get rid of it, I'd really appreciate it.

Yeah, what @Enderman said, orrr you could remove everything to do with chrome and re-install it. (@Enderman s way is easier though).

Look in your Control Panel and go to programs and otherwise try a clean install of Chrome.

Re-install Chrome, and if that doesn't work, try running a scan with your antivirus (Malwarebytes, Windows Defender/Security Essentials, AVG Free are all great ones you should use.)

I have had a few roge chrome extensions in my lifetime.

  1. Uninstall any software that you don't remember installing or don't need anymore.
  2. Remove the extension, close chrome, and don't reopen it until the last step.
  3. Run malewarebytes, and remove whatever it finds.
  4. Run ccleaner. this will get rid of any tempfiles the "virus" has created. and also run the registrycleaner. It can only help.
  5. Now if its still there you can try reinstalling chrome. But remember that if you logged into chrome, it remembers all your extensions and usually redownloads them for you. Isn't that great?!?!
Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

Thanks Guys.  After doing most of this, it seems to have resolved the issue.  I'll wait to say that it's definitely done after my first restart. thanks again!
