Heyoo,

Probably an "running as intended" kind of thing but I've got an EVGA 780ti Superclocked ACX and am finding it's running pretty toasty (averaging 78-82C) when in certain games (World of Warcraft and Planetside 2 namely). Are these acceptable temperatures or should I be concerned?

I haven't overclocked the card at all and am letting the fan do it's own thing.

They can get that hot, but that's more on the high side of normal. What type of cooler is it - blower or not? Check to see if there is dust built up.

An acx 780ti? No that's fairly terrible. It's not dangerous temps or anything but thats the temps my reference card runs at with really demanding games.

Those temps are acceptable, however those are about Reference Model temps, so they seem a bit high for superior cooler like the ACX. If you're up for an adventure, I would suggest replacing the thermal compound.

if the card is at 90% plus load when playing those games then yes those temps are fine, maybe try enabling vsync or capping the frame rate in those games if its running to high (and thus wasting power and creating heat)

I always use vsync.

If it's anything like doing a CPU, can try.

Has this changed since when you first got it?

I thought it ran cooler then this, but those temps are borderline on too high for a non OC version. I would think.

Used to run pretty darn cool, there's no real dust buildup or anything, entire case is filtered quite well.

So it's an EVGA ACX cooler? Just air dust it and see if any dust comes out. Otherwise, you should be ok.

Those temps aren't anything to worry about, but they are pretty high for a ACX Cooler running stock clock speeds. I haven't seen mine go over 60 on the most demanding games, mine usually hovers around 45-50. As other suggested I'd remove the card and try and blow the dust out of the heat sink and see if that helps at all, If that doesn't help you may need to reapply the thermal Paste.

I used to run those cards in SLI and I would see those temps.  What I ended up doing was creating a custom fan curve in EVGA Precision X and that solved the issue.  If I can remember correctly, the fan curve was set for silent running which can lead to those temperatures.

I have a potato!

Just have my fans set to auto in Afterburner, those temps were visible when the fan was running around 86%

I went from ACX (780 Ti) to ACX 2.0 (980) and what a world of difference it makes in regards to sound coming from the fans.  My temps barely hit 70c and if it does, the fan is at 45% which is barely audible.

Yeah I'm kinda bummed about the 980, it came out like two weeks after I ordered my 780ti and then my card came down in price by $200...

Possible issues:

1. you have a Positive air set up and your case is not exhausting hot air fast enough

2. you have a lemon (unlikely)

the ACX blower is a internal exhaust type of card, make sure you got a sufficient wind tunnel effect going

Think my setup is mainly neutral, single intake, single exhaust, bigass cooler on CPU (NH-D15). Could look at upping the exhaust, kinda want to put a 3000rpm industrial in there...

Don't think the card is a lemon either, it's been working fine up until now. Lots of suggestions to play aronud with, finish work in a couple of hours, will tackle it then.
