Not if Ziftr holds their claim to a minimum $1/coin. While you might be restricted to buying through their site, you have a guaranteed minimum payout. I've already found a few neat items that I plan to pick up once the system goes live :D

Hm, I guess that would be true, though if some people are making 500 coins a day, that's still $500 minimum value.

 

I guess we'll just have to see what happens and do what we can.

From what I read on the official site, we will only be able to pay a small percentage of the cost 5-15% in ziftr on their online shop. That's how they can consider promising a minimum $1 value. Also, they take 2 for 1 coins on that cost, So in reality, because of their fee, each coin really is only 50cents.

This google cloud free trial is so tempting, wish I wasn't such a n00b on Linux now so I could actually set it up for ziftr!

Hoping this is wrong. It's still freaking cool and a great way to save money, but mildly disappointing. Guess some things just are too good to be true..

I found the page, if the value of the coin is 1$ or under - you can spend up to 5% of the total cost in ziftrcoins - still costs double the coins in fees.

But, if the value ever goes over over 1$ in value, the Ziftrshop will allow you to buy up to 100% in coins - but we have to actually get there for this to happen.

 

There's a pop up if you click the link 'minimum redemption value of $1' Under section 1 of the homepage.

Only computer in my apartment that is capable of mining is my desktop (in profile). The only other viable computer is a Surface Pro 3 that I'm hesitant to run with. Might try benchmarking it tonight though!

You know what's funny? According to this, bitcoin is now at just under $300 and litecoin is around $2. I remember back when bitcoins were $1000 (before the crash) and litecoins were $18+. But that's not funny...

 

Guess which major coin stayed the most constant since then? Not bitcoin, not litecoin. Dogecoin. The dumbest coin that somehow made it big. I actually still have a few from way back...

 

EDIT: And by "a few" I mean 1,172. Which is about $0.16. Yay.

I sold Litecoin at $38 :)

 

They peaked at like $40.52

 

But usually sat around $33-37.

 

Dogecoin is silly though, it's a coin that you mine thousands of so it can only ever be worthless.

Using 3 threads I made 9 coins in less than 12 hours using the pool on my 4.15Ghz 4690 (between midnight'ish and turned off just before midday)

440-500kH/s using 3 threads.

Was surprised it was that many.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
