hey guys, so recently learned about the asic score and was wondering if its really that significant.

my 770 has a asic score of 80.6% wich im told is really good but somehow i cant even reach standardclock due to temperature limits.

i was thinking of changing the thermal paste just to be sure but im kinda really frustated being told on the one hand that my card should performe and overclock like a champ and on the other hand not even being able to achieve standardclock.

any advice?

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

Woah that's on the high side. You can try changing thermal paste but it might void the warranty of your card.

86 with fan on auto ?

just max out the fan speed

86c shouldnt throttle ur card

yes fan is on auto but seriously im not setting it to 100% its unbearable

For the average overclocker like me you want as high ASIC as poss. If you're under water or LN2 though you want lower.

why would you want the asic to be lower under water or ln2? I thought asic is some kind of oc potential scale.. please enlighten me on this ^^

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

Although 86c is high, it shouldn't throttle your performance

well the temp limit is 85 so .. i dont know if i should set it higher

as a lower ASIC results in a higher standard voltage you can put through the card thus getting more from it when it's cooled properly

Eh, my 270x has got a 74.9 asic, kinda jelly of that 80, but it doesn't really affect how well a card overclocks. It's mainly there to help determine what voltage is needed to achieve certain clock speeds from what i understand. For example, my 270 has an asic score of 74.9, and it runs a stable overclock at 1220mhz, which is an overclock of almost 270mhz. In the cabinet next to me is an old 760 2gb which is out of use. It's asic was 77.2 if i remember correctly but could only maintain a stable clock of about 1255mhz, or a ~120mhz oc from it's stock, anything much after that started to give me screen artifacts and eventual BSOD.

TF cards are fairly quiet. Set your fans to %100 and run it under load to see what temps you get.
