I've been playing without prior knowledge and I've found that although some references I don't get (Due to seeing characters names on DA: Keep, so I know it's a reference) but it's a very good game regardless.

I played all 3 Mass Effects and absolutely loved them, is it anything like Mass Effect? since Bioware makes them both

Completely different, that is from the vague memories of ME3. DA:I is like a Single Player MMO, in a good way. HEAPS of quests (Some are boring as hell, some are amazing) and large areas to explore. The game is just amazing :P

PS: Don't stay in the Hinterlands to long or else you'll hate the game, go to another location when you can! :D

I didn't get to play DA 1 and 2 but I watched videos about the plot and had grasped most of the story. It got too repetitive for me. Nevertheless, it was an "ok" game in my opinion. It could've better if they made the game open world not multi-regional.

It injects some story based decisions and such you made in Da1 and 2, But not anything that would leave you confused.. It mearly compliments the story

I did that. Just get to the dragon age wikia to understand everything you need.

However, I'm now considering playing DA 1 & 2 since Inquisition is very good game.

Yeah... get out of the hinterlands when you can. I didn't, and I regret that a lot.
