Win 10 Preview (Build 9926) Nvidia Driver?

Go to solution Solved by fracking4oil,

All 347.52 drivers worked fine here with my GT630. BVUt if you're running VirtualBox, you have to install the Guest Additions. VBox emulates a GPU and its drivers are included in the Guest Additions package. Just press RightCtrl+D to insert the ISO to the VM.

I had actually done that to begin with, but for whatever reason wasn't working with the version of Oracle VM VirtualBox I had. I finally got it working by coping over the previews version (one version behind the current) with the newest (to be able to use a 64 bit OS) and installing the Guest Addition onto that. Strangely even after that, Windows wouldn't show the resolution I wanted, but when I switched, it actually switched to 1080p rather than the stated resolution. Anyway, thank you all for your time & consideration.

Has anyone had luck finding a working Nvidia Display driver for Build 9926? The couple I tried wouldn't even start to install due to compatibility issues. My 1080p display is stuck at 1280x1024 :(

Note: I'm running Win 10 on Oracle VM VirtualBox, if that makes a difference(?).

Do you know which 347.xx driver (there are three)? I tried the latest 347.52 without luck.

Are you running the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Win 10? I'm wondering if I'm having this issue because I'm running the 64 bit version.

This is what I get every time:

There should be a driver pushed via Windows Update. Have you installed it?

Odd...

Though I upgraded from 8.1, I didn't do a clean install. Maybe that's why? But even then, I could upgrade the driver without issues on Windows 10.

What happens if you try to update from within device manager?

In device manager, right click on the GPU and select "Update Driver Software".

Then select "Search automatically for updated driver software".

It should install the latest GPU driver that was validated for the technical preview.

I tried to manually install Gforce Experience and got a message saying it requires a Nvidia GPU. So, I gather Win 10 is only seeing the Intel CPU graphics and not the Nvidia GPU.

Most likely, yes.

How come you're trying to install a physical display driver onto a virtual machine?

The reason will be, because your display is a virtual display adapter not an "Nvidia Graphics Card"

I swear that last line with the "note" in the OP wasn't there when I read it this morning.

Either way, to the OP, install the VirtualBox guest additions and you should be set to go.

Because I'm a newb as far as VMs go and any documentation I've found isn't very helpful.

All 347.52 drivers worked fine here with my GT630. BVUt if you're running VirtualBox, you have to install the Guest Additions. VBox emulates a GPU and its drivers are included in the Guest Additions package. Just press RightCtrl+D to insert the ISO to the VM.

That is not why its not working. The reason is hes trying to install an incompatible nvidia driver on a microsoft (or virtualbox) virtual adapter.

Like Speedbird already pointed out, if he wants to install it, he can try adding GuestAdditions to passthrough the physical adapter from the host to the vm and see if he can install it that why.
