Hi everyone, I'm Dylan (AKA Vegetable.) I've been all about computers since I was 11, I'm only 14 now. I'm relatively bored, so I felt the need to tell you all about me and my history with PC's. It all started back in 2011, we had an Athlon x2 computer, with a 6150 for graphics. It sucked, absolutely and forever. Then my bro took it upon himself to spend his birthday money on a new GPU. He had zero clue on what he was doing, and went off of a google search and a budget. He bought us an Asus gt 440 1gb. It was back when the 580 had just come out, so the 400 series was still relevant. It was SUPPOSED TO run anything we wanted it to. He had no background knowledge on the fact that not any GPU fit in any case. We had a slimline (so, low-profile) HP desktop. We got the 440 and were so pumped, until we realized it didn't fit. We were sad about it, but we figured we'd get a new pc eventually, and could use it then. 1 year later, my bro is a sophomore in highschool, he has an engineering teacher who gives PC's to kids who don't have them. He talked to him about it, and we got a dell desktop. It had an e6400 in it, 2 gb RAM, and an 8600 gts. I thought it was the fastest gaming PC around, as at the time, I had only done irl research, never seen anything like Linustechtips before. We threw the 440 in there, and it ran everything ok. All my bro played was WoW, and I played Runescape. We got a e8400 for it, and eventually 8gb RAM. Then came the day he too started learning a bit about PC's. He learned quickly how outdated and low performance everything was. I was now 13, he was 16. He had a job,and bought a 650 ti boost and a PSU. He then got himself an MSI b85 e45 motherboard. He got 16 gb of Adata RAM as well. Then he got fired. He had everything, but a CPU. After an entire year of saving, he got his 4790k. It is great. It's fast and runs everything. Then after a week it slows to a crawl. *slams brake on fun-train* The HDD sucks. It's a 1tb wd green from 07', and it's still alive today, but damn is it slow. It makes him have shit FPS in even games that all other parts have no problem in. WoW runs meh, it only lags when the HDD starts creaking (yes it creaks and hisses.) Big stuff like DayZ runs badly, again the HDD. Then comes me in this tale. I'm using the core 2 duo + gt 440 build still at this point. It runs everything meh (idk how it did though.) I knew alot about PC's, and knew mine sucked by any standard. After christmas, I had 150 bucks. I spent it on my friends pc. It had a q6600, 8 gb ddr3, and a gtx 260. I had to clean it 3000 times over. It hadn't been cleaned since 09', it was terrifying. I then put my old 750gb seagate in it, and got windows 8. It ran ok, but I wasn't (still am not) satisfied. I overclocked the q6600 to 3ghz (it's had an aftermarket heatsink on it this whole time) and took the 260 to it's limit. It runs alright, I run DayZ SA 25 fps in towns on ultra low 900p. It runs wow on Medium 60 fps. I am fine with everything but the GPU. My new goal is a new GPU, but I don't expect any money until I get a job next year. That sums it up. Nothing else interesting. Thanks for reading, Vegetable.

FAQ

Q - Has Linus taught you much/inspired you?

A - Abso-fucking-lutely. I have learned more from him in 6 months than I did 3 years of irl experience.

Q - What gpu are you looking into?

A - Basically anything. My local craigslist has some ok stuff, ebay is the same. I'm trying for maybe a 750 ti or a 950 ti. If AMD has anything pop out at me in the 300 series I might consider that too.

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Do you have your own rig?

Has Linus been a big inspiration/

2 days on the forum and you're already shitposting.. I predict a bright future for you.

Well what a compelling story. That inspires me to live a better life.

I was expecting this to be a story about starting off as a seed and growing up to being a vegetable. I'm kind of disappointed to be honest.

start modding and spray painting :3 (and post something more useful next time )

Sorry, shit went down and it posted before I had a paragraph. Dont hate m8 i r8 8/8

i h8 m8, no exception <3

Either way.. If you want to buy a 750 Ti, I'm not sure if that is best for you..

I think the CPU will bottleneck it a lot..

I have done research, and a q6600 2.4ghz doesn't bottleneck a 750 ti much, so the 25% overclock makes it even.

Ok, that's pretty good.

I suggest you to look into the AMD R9 270 too.

Your PSU is good enough to handle it and it often outperforms the 750 Ti.

I'm sure, a 270 is a solid card. I haven't had any sort of good luck with AMD before, but I will look into it.

I've seen some 280x's (great for 1080p) be sold for little on Ebay.

Pls put indentations.  My eyes  :( ...

Trying to indent is what made me post this with 2 sentences, and get the hate you see above. So, screw that.
