nvidia will support AMD's freesync?

No

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

First of all, freesync != adaptive sync. Adaptive sync is a free standard for DP, made by VESA. Freesync is just AMDs implementation of it on the GPU side. There's a very important difference here. Yes, Nvidia will never support freesync, but they will (hopefully) support adaptive sync and make their own implementation of it.

At the moment, no.

I wouldn't be surprised if some new standard comes along that will be adopted by both AMD and Nvidia though.

The standard already exists, it's called adaptive sync and it's made by VESA. Freesync just leverages this free and open standard while g-sync remains proprietary bullshit as of now.

That is a thread from Guru3D.............also lol

While enthusiasts are waiting to try the AMD Freesync Nvidia is planning to steal rampjuset by doing the same, and implement support for DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync, even though the technology in practice, compete with Nvidia G-Sync. This was reported on a secret press conference in San Francisco for the launch of the new Maxwell-based graphics cards GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 .

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

correction then......nvidia is supposedly supporting AMD's adaptive sync from what the link i posted above says granted its older.

and i magicaly expected to know if thats a good thing or bad thing? its just one of the couple of links ive found.

Did you read the thread? If you did, you would have read that Nvidia denied they would support it.

Adaptive-Sync is not AMD's.

It's not "AMDs adaptive sync", that's the whole point. Reading comprehension, pls. Adaptive sync is a standard by VESA, so literally EVERYBODY can use it. Nvidia will not touch AMDs software or actively support it in any way (which is to be expected), but they could easily make their own implementation of this open and free standard and we as the consumer could have monitors with variable refresh rates that work with AMD, Nvidia and even Intel GPUs.

At this point they are saying they are not supporting adaptive-sync on the desktop however it looks like they will more than likely make use of it in laptops if they can get it to perform to their standards. They haven't ruled it out on the desktop either but they are focusing on G-Sync for now.

IMO I think we will see adaptive-sync support down the road but I don't think G-sync will be going away any time soon it will just become the "premium" version with an extended feature set. Nvidia will never support free-sync though.

The links from months ago were officially blown off by Nvidia about a week after they started flying around the rumour mill.

i did find a link finally about adaptive sync being supported by nvidia. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/adaptive-vsyncalso i like how you gave your answer in a non condescending way i may not be great with my grammer or reading skills but i do try but you focused on my question and i thank you very very much for that.

so is it true that nvidia gpu's will support AMD's free sync?

No. Nvidia owns G-Sync and they charge monitor companies to use it.

Adaptive V-Sync is not related to Adaptive-Sync :)

NVIDIA has not announced any plans to support Adaptive-Sync, although I suspect they eventually will at some point. Knowing NVIDIA though, they will probably come up with a way to lock it down though, so that only "certified" monitors will work.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/adaptive-vsync  according to this adaptive vsync that is is being supported by geforce cards. well specific cards that is.

Sorry but it's not always simple. If you want to understand the issue and what's going on with variable refreshrate technology right now then those differences are extremely important. I apologize if I sounded condescending but people confuse this every. single. time. there is a thread about it. The information is out there, I bundled it together in 2 short sentences that were (hopefully) easy to understand, you can't really ask for more thant that.

Adaptive V-sync is not adaptive sync. Adaptive sync is variable refreshrate technology, adaptive Vsync is a more intelligent form of your standard Vsync. Totally different, blame VESA for the naming confusion.

After the driver that enabled moblie g-sync on that asus laptop was tested Nvidea teased/leaked/idk that more features will come to the desktop version to take advantage of the custom scaler. This is the only mention I've heard of it and I'm assuming its to make people who bough the swift not feel cheated. If it's true then they will be supporting G-sync for a while to come. If it's not or is abandoned before it's shown then I'd assume they would create a locked down verson of adaptive sync like someone else already mentioned.
