Go to guitar center at Delta Park. if you have the money, buy like 10 headsets. They will let you bring them all home, try them, and then return the ones you don't like.

They also pricematch, I believe. They don't have everything, but, they did have full sennheiser, Audiotechnica, and beyerdynamic lineups when I was there last.

So you want a closed over ear that is neutral. I would say Sony MDR 7506 is what you're looking for. Used Sony MDR 1R are also a very good value right now but they have a boost in the upper bass so they do sound a bit boomy. The 7506 is more neutral. I think those are your best options.

Yeah, they also allowed me to do that. Unboxed 3-4 units, and tried each for a few minutes and took home the two I liked most.

For the record, i ended up with the M50x

Yeah. Audio is subjective, and for subjective things, trying before buying should be mandatory. Brick and mortar shops are the way to go. Unfortunately, they're more and more getting squeezed by online shops.

Brick and mortar shops sells stuffs at understandably higher prices, to cover the overhead expenses of the shops and employees, as well as initial capital of stocking maybe hundreds of stuffs. But yeah, guess time has changed, and online shops are the way to go nowadays.

Totally.

I love ghoing into heated threads about "the best headset" when... everyone has different sized ears and eardrums and canals.... its all different! Best bet, is to try them.

Thankfully this place Im reccomending to her, guitar center, will do pricematching. I would double check amazon, as they tend to want to only match music shops, but their price was all of... $5 more than amazon on these I have anyway.
