Google it Or when it is hardware related I try to find out what the problem could be.

Like today I heard a grinding noise, so I checked what fan it was. It was my back fan case.

I checked if it was loose, it wasn't. I checked if there were cables stuck in it, there weren't.

It turned it was some solid dust ( :o ) that caused it.

all depends on what the actual hardware issue or problem is. there is no real

flow chart on hardware troubleshooting other than installation/power checks.

most would ask the community in this forum: http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/46-troubleshooting/

and read the guidelines for posting to troubleshooting. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/40334-read-before-asking-for-help/?p=521527

depends on what is wrong. generally to figure out what is not working I figure out what is working which is an easy process of elimination. easy solutions first before you go into more complicated diagnosis steps. a very general answer for a question with out any real specifics.

Im asking because i had many issues in the past and i usually fix them software side, but if it a hardware thing it's difficult to diagnose because i dont have a few sticks of ram lying around or whatever. And due to the lack of repeatability i cannot do something so the problem accurs. Its sometimes happens out of nowhere but when doing a trivial task like tilting the case

when you have an issue:

No logs

A clear pattern but no repeatability

What would you do first? Remember im talking hardware

First... check all the connections.

Then, I go into device manager to see if it's software incompatibilities/inconsistencies/failures. (Happens more than you think)

After that, I manually test every component that I'm worried about.

The projects never end in my line of work.
